See how the DreamCloud compares to other hybrid mattresses!

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a massive 15 inches. The eight-layer building is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a company innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.

Offered all the different materials at play here, I’m stired to dive into these layers to see how well they engage with one another.

DreamCloud Cover

Close up of the cover of the DreamCloud

Cover– The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.

Foam Layers– Below the cover, you’ll discover 3 thin layers of foam. While these areas are soft to the touch and offer some satisfying sinkage, they also respond rapidly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress.

The middle of these 3 layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in basic is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations motivates even more cooling.

Pocketed Coils– The bottom layer of foam shifts into the firmer support area of the mattress, which is comprised of a pocketed coil system. These individually covered springs provide the bed exceptional bounce and aid to distribute motion throughout the structure.

The coils likewise aid in controling temperature level as the areas between them allow for consistent air flow.

Foundation Layer– A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the swiped coils and providing a sound foundation for the entire.

After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and right away felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and leading layers.

My hand sunk into the product and I might feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pressing in even more, I started to connect with the stolen coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.

Pushing into the DreamCloud mattress

At this moment I ‘d like to keep in mind that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness in a different way. Rather than offering simply my opinion on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I got three other people to offer their opinion. This will offer you a much better sense of the firmness range you can anticipate from the mattress.

DreamCloud Firmness Test

Showing the firmness scores of the DreamCloud from four testers

As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in arrangement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average ranking of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear that this mattress is quite firm.

I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remainder of the testers that it’s absolutely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the plush foam leading layers, the separately wrapped coils in the core will raise you from the bed and make you seem like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.

Rather than just explaining the feel of the dreamcloud mattress shipping delays to you, I wished to offer a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while resting on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and pushed my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).

DreamCloud Pressure Map

Back– Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t seem like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover supplied quality relief at my back region and the swiped coils helped to raise me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.

Side– As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved exactly what pain I felt in this position.

Stomach– Switching over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is essential for stomach sleepers. I need to discuss that I was able to shift throughout these positions with relative ease.

If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll need to know exactly what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other.

To show this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disruption it triggered: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.

Dreamcloud Movement Transfer test

Outcomes for the movement transfer test with a 10 lb ball dropped from heights of 4, 8 and 12 inches.

The DreamCloud reveals a percentage of disruption for the 4 inch drop, which replicates someone rolling around and changing their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I ‘d still think about the mattress to be respectable at separating motion, thanks to the individually covered coils. This implies you’re not most likely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight vibrates, makings this a terrific option for couples.

When purchasing a brand-new bed, many people need to know whether they’ll seem like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To imagine this sinkage, I put 4 balls of differing sizes and densities (a 6 pound conditioning ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound conditioning ball) on the mattress and determined just how much they compressed the surface.

The variations in size, weight and density are meant to replicate various body parts and different sized sleepers.

DreamCloud Sinkage Test

The sinkage test on a DreamCloud mattress with balls weighing 6 pounds, 10 lbs, 50 pounds and 100 pounds.

6 lb conditioning ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 pound conditioning ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll strike the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast array of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.

If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and have to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be essential for you to think about the quantity of edge support it’ll supply.

I’m specifically interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the very same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box bed mattress that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.

DreamCloud Edge Supprt Back

Resting on my back near the side of the DreamCloud

Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the leading foam layers, but absolutely nothing too significant.

DreamCloud Edge Support Side

Lying on my side near the edge of the DreamCloud

Moving to my side, I as soon as again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the covered coil system below.

This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a fantastic job of supporting my weight.

DreamCloud Edge Support Seated

Sitting on the edge of the DreamCloud mattress

In this position, I wished to imitate exactly what it would seem like to be resting on the bed in the early morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and preparing for the day. A great deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, however the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
